What it does

Why people take it

  • 30 mg liposomal iron

A lipid-carried form, formulated to be gentle on the stomach

  • Supports red blood cell formation

Iron, B12 and folic acid together, not iron alone

  • Helps reduce tiredness

Iron contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue

  • Vitamin C for absorption

50 mg in the same tablet, so no separate juice needed

  • No metallic aftertaste

The complaint that ends most iron courses early

  • One tablet a day

    After a meal - 60 tablets, a two-month bottle

The problem

Why iron supplements get abandoned

  • 01

Tiredness that rest does not touch

Iron contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and it is the single most common nutritional shortfall in Indian women.

  • 02

The stomach makes it impossible to continue

Constipation, nausea and a metallic taste are why most iron courses stop weeks before they were meant to.

  • 03

Iron alone is only part of the picture

Red blood cell formation needs vitamin B12 and folate as well. An iron-only tablet leaves two of the three missing.

  • 04

Absorption undone by the next cup of tea

Tannins and calcium both block iron uptake, which is why timing and vitamin C matter as much as the dose.

A bottle of Red-Sang liposomal iron tablets, 60 tablets

Why it works

Liposomal, so less of it sits in your gut

A conventional iron salt dumps a large unabsorbed fraction into the intestine, and that fraction is what causes the side effects. Liposomal iron is wrapped in a lipid shell, which changes how it is taken up and is the reason this tablet is tolerated where ferrous sulphate often is not. It is paired with 50 mg of vitamin C, which increases iron absorption; with 15 mcg of B12 and 300 mcg of folic acid, because haemoglobin needs all three; and with 10 mg of zinc. One tablet after a meal, 60 to a bottle.

Full transparency

What is in it

Every ingredient, with its amount.

Red-Sang is a liposomal iron tablet built around the reason most people give up on iron: the stomach. Conventional iron salts leave a large unabsorbed fraction sitting in the gut, which is what causes the constipation, the metallic taste and the nausea.

Liposomal ferric pyrophosphate is carried in a lipid shell, which changes where and how it is taken up. Alongside it, 50 mg of vitamin C, because iron absorption depends on it; 15 mcg of vitamin B12 and 300 mcg of folic acid, because red blood cell formation needs all three together rather than iron alone; and 10 mg of zinc. Iron contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin, and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Supplement facts5 ingredients
Liposomal Iron (Ferric Pyrophosphate)30 mg

Iron carried in a lipid shell, which is what makes it tolerable at a dose that would otherwise upset the stomach. Contributes to normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)50 mg

Increases the absorption of non-haem iron. Including it in the same tablet removes the need to time a glass of juice alongside the dose.

Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin)15 mcg

Required for normal red blood cell formation, and one of the two nutrients an iron-only tablet leaves out.

Folic Acid (Vitamin B9)300 mcg

Works with B12 in red blood cell formation and contributes to normal maternal tissue growth in pregnancy.

Zinc10 mg

Contributes to normal immune function and to the maintenance of normal hair, skin and nails.

How to take it

Take 1 tablet daily after a meal, or as advised by your physician. Vitamin C is already included, so no separate juice is needed. Avoid taking it within two hours of tea, coffee or a calcium supplement, all of which reduce iron absorption.

Who it is for

A daily iron supplement for adults with increased iron needs - including women with heavy periods, and anyone whose doctor has advised iron support.

Testing and evidence

Manufactured in a GMP-certified, FSSAI-approved facility. Vegetarian. Every quantity is printed on the pack.

Safety information

Not for medicinal use. Keep out of reach of children - accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under six. Iron supplements can darken the stool, which is harmless. Do not take alongside another iron supplement. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or on prescription medication, consult your doctor before use. Iron deficiency should be confirmed by a blood test rather than assumed.

The routine

How to take it

  1. 1

    One tablet daily

    After a meal, with water.

  2. 2

Keep tea and coffee two hours away

Tannins bind iron. So does calcium, so space it from a calcium supplement too.

  3. 3

Give it 8 to 12 weeks

Haemoglobin responds before stores do. Confirm progress with a blood test.
